Golf Classic 2016 Results

The 2016 Footballers Matchplay Event where the top 8 qualifiers meet in the knockout phase, was held at Kingswood GC on September 30th 2016.

Last years qualifiers were: Glenn Hoddle, John Lacy, Paul Jewell, Derek Mountfield, Steve Lovell, Ian Evans, Paul Walsh and Teddy Maybank.

The knockout phase was finally completed earlier in the year and the 2 finalists, Derek Mountfield (7) (the 2015 winner) and Steve Lovell (5) met at the neutral venue of the Belfry on the 12th July.

Derek Mountfield beat Steve 5 & 4 which is no mean feat, considering he only received 2 shots and Steve a double Green Jacket winner in La Manga looked to be clear favourite.

Obviously Derek is a matchplay specialist and Steve is a 3 round going it out specialist!

Congratulations to Derek the 2016 Matchplay winner and commiserations to Steve.

The qualifiers for the 2017 knockout phase are: Steve Coppell, Andy Legg, Jason Dodd, Wally Downes, Stephen Hunt, Steve lomas, Steve Sidwell and Maik Taylor
